Good to know
Book the night before. Early starts for Aït Ben-Haddou or the dunes are common — a quick WhatsApp the evening before is enough.
Agree on the price first. Standard practice in Morocco. Settle the fare before you get in — both sides are clear and there are no surprises.
Grand taxi for day trips. The larger vehicle handles mountain passes and desert tracks far more comfortably than a city car.
They know the region. Local drivers know which kasbahs are worth stopping at, the best light for Aït Ben-Haddou, and where to eat away from tourist menus.
Cash is king. Have dirhams ready. ATMs in Ouarzazate work fine but are scarce once you leave the city.
